Did you know that Floyd Cramer recorded two Christmas albums by the same name, 22 years apart?
1967 | 1989 |
Grandadās 1967 We Wish You A Merry Christmas album has been a holiday staple in countless homes over the decades, featuring beautiful piano arrangements and a photo of the young Cramer family on the coverā¦
Then, once his own family had grown, I supposed he decided it was time to release an āupdatedā We Wish You A Merry Christmas album in 1989, featuring even more family photos (including the sons-in-law and all the grandkids), plus new recordings of many of the songs from his first Christmas album. Itās fun to listen to his āmodernā takes on his āvintageā original arrangements from the ā60s. For example, Jingle Bell Rock! He recorded this song on both albums, each in its own unique style. Give them both a listen, and see which version is your favorite, 1967 or 1989?
