Did you know that Floyd Cramer recorded two Christmas albums by the same name, 22 years apart?

Grandad’s 1967 We Wish You A Merry Christmas album has been a holiday staple in countless homes over the decades, featuring beautiful piano arrangements and a photo of the young Cramer family on the cover…

Then, once his own family had grown, I supposed he decided it was time to release an “updated” We Wish You A Merry Christmas album in 1989, featuring even more family photos (including the sons-in-law and all the grandkids), plus new recordings of many of the songs from his first Christmas album. It’s fun to listen to his “modern” takes on his “vintage” original arrangements from the ‘60s. For example, Jingle Bell Rock! He recorded this song on both albums, each in its own unique style. Give them both a listen, and see which version is your favorite, 1967 or 1989?
