This melancholy melody is a Floyd Cramer original composition, and one I've always sort of considered a sequel to Last Date. (Because after all, wouldn’t your “last date” conclude with “your last goodbye”?) Grandad sure had a way of writing what I call “happy-sad” melodies 🥲… songs that lend themselves to a whole range of memories and emotions, even without a single word.
