I adore this hymn – and I just learned something amazing about its original author! Though it was recently brought to the forefront with a modern rendition by Keith & Kristyn Getty, this song’s roots actually go back more than a century, written in 1906 by Ada R. Habershon. Does that name ring a bell? It sure seemed familiar to me, but I couldn’t place where else I’d heard her name until I did a little research. Guess what else she wrote, one year after writing “He Will Hold Me Fast”? It’s a little song you might know… “Will The Circle Be Unbroken.” 😮

As for this song, I hope the lyrics are as moving and assuring to you as they are to me. I especially love the middle verse:

“Those He saves are His delight; Christ will hold me fast
Precious in His holy sight; He will hold me fast
He'll not let my soul be lost; His promises shall last
Bought by Him at such a cost; He will hold me fast”
