Today we remember Gentleman Jim Reeves, who lost his life in that tragic plane crash 61 years ago on this date, July 31, 1964. Jim Reeves was just 40 years old when he died. So much music left unsung, and don't you know his voice would've only gotten better with age?
My Grandad Floyd Cramer toured with Jim during the early '50s, performed alongside him on the Louisiana Hayride, and added his distinctive piano touch to so many of Jim's iconic records during the golden era of the Nashville Sound. Here's my piano tribute to Jim Reeves.
