Jimmie Rodgers Medley: In the Jailhouse Now / Waiting for a Train / Travelin' Blues
Congratulations to the newly announced 2025 class of Country Music Hall of Fame inductees: June Carter Cash, Kenny Chesney, and producer Tony Brown! These three Country legends join the 158 inductees before them to be bestowed with the most significant honor in all of Country music. (Floyd Cramer was inducted into this sacred circle in 2003.)
Here's a medley from one of my favorite of Grandad's albums, "Hits from the Country Hall of Fame" from 1965, as he pays tribute to the first four inductees into the newly established Hall of Fame: Jimmie Rodgers, Hank Williams, Fred Rose and Roy Acuff. The tradition of these bronze Hall of Fame plaques began more then 60 years ago with this very first class of inductees, and it still continues today! I love seeing this photo of a very young Floyd Cramer Grandad sitting among the plaques, because he probably could never have imagined at the time that his own plaque would one day be hanging side by side with these legends.
