This 1964 album of Grandad’s called “Country Piano - City Strings” perfectly encapsulated what made his style so appealing. He could take the Country-est of Country songs, like this old Roy Acuff tune from the ‘40s, and use his gentle touch at the piano, along with the strings and lush orchestration, to smooth over the rough edges and make it oh-so-easy on the ears. That’s the Nashville Sound in a nutshell!
