🎵 For The Good Times
Remembering Country Legend Ray Price, who would have turned 100 YEARS OLD today, born January 12, 1926. What an icon! His was a career in two parts – his early records in the 1950s like “Crazy Arms” introduced the Texas shuffle, or the “Ray Price beat,” to country music, setting a new standard for honky tonk songs; then in the later ‘60s and ‘70s, he brought the smooth “Countrypolitan” style of the Nashville Sound to his music, which was the perfect fit for his one-of-a-kind voice. (And you could hear Floyd Cramer’s piano all over his records!) Though he passed away in 2013 at age 87, his Hall of Fame legacy will live on for another 100 years and beyond. To honor him on this centennial birthday, here’s perhaps his most beloved hit song – written by Kris Kristofferson & taken to #1 by Ray Price in 1970, it somehow this song fills your heart & breaks your heart at the same time. Happy 100th Birthday, Ray Price, and thank you for the music.
