What do monsters from a different dimension and Floyd Cramer have in common? Two words: STRANGER THINGS

Stranger Things is the #1 most popular show in the world right now, streaming its fifth and final season on Netflix, and in one of the episodes, Floyd Cramer’s 1960 recording of “Heart and Soul” features front and center! And our family had no inkling of this until I, a Stranger Things fan, just happened to discover it while watching! Here’s the story…

I’m a sci-fi geek 🤓 so I was kicking back last week, enjoying the brand new season of Stranger Things… and as I’m watching, a scene begins with a kid sitting at a piano, picking out “Heart and Soul” one note at a time… then, as the scene continues, the full song fades in and plays in the background for a couple more minutes. As I’m listening, I begin to think this particular rendition sounds awfully familiar. “Is that Grandad??” When the scene finishes, I pause the show, grab my phone and look it up… sure enough, Floyd Cramer’s “Heart and Soul” (from his 1960 “Last Date” album) is not only part of the episode, but it’s featured on Netflix’s official playlist and official soundtrack release from the show! And if it seems like an odd pairing, if you watch this particular scene, the song is a perfect fit.

Who would have guessed that a TV show about monster-fighting teenagers would lead to millions of people hearing Floyd Cramer play piano, many probably for the first time! How STRANGE is that?!
